Archives For fast food

Shrinking menu sizes. “Our intent is to have a cleaner menu board that is easier for customers to absorb,” spokeswoman Lisa McComb said in a statement to The Huffington Post. To do so, McComb said McDonald’s will be “simplifying our current menu.”

I know I will probably hear from some of you about my eating at McDonald’s but that is what I do sometimes when I am in a hurry. I am just a person who generally eats to live so to speak so food really isn’t that important to me. McDonald’s is not my favorite place to eat but in my little town there aren’t too many choices. When I travel and therefore want a quick bite we now frequently stop at Culver’s when we find them.  The quality of the food is much higher than McDonald’s and the choices are many times greater.  They have a variety of sandwiches beyond the usual burgers and fish. They also have a variety of soups that I often order in place of fries. Checking the menus for salt Culver’s is frequently considerably lower.

Variety and quality are what I seek even in fast foods, so when McDonald’s announced they are stripping the menu to make it “cleaner” that didn’t make much sense to me. I want the opposite. I just don’t understand these marketing types sometimes as they seem to do the opposite of what I think is common sense.  But then again they are probably targeting those younger 18 – 35 crowd who don’t have the patience to study a menu and they are more impressionable than I am.  McDonald’s is planning on letting you choose the condiments you want on your very salty burger but  that just isn’t choice to me. If, or I certainly hope, when a Culver’s is available in my small town I will grace McDonald’s for the last time.
